Carl Montgomery scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds Saturday night to lead Chicago State to its first road victory of the season, 70-64 over Texas-Pan American.

Montgomery fouled out with just over a minute to play and the Cougars leading 62-58. They held on down the stretch with free throws and are 1-12 away from home this season.

Jonathon Montgomery scored 11 points for the Cougars (6-17, 3-4 Big West), who overcame a 35-28 halftime deficit. Chicago State was 19 for 22 from the free-throw line.

Texas-Pan American (3-21, 0-7) has lost 15 in a row. Jared Maree led the Broncs with 15 points. Brandon Provost and Matt Mierzycki scored 13 each and Mierzycki contributed nine rebounds.
