Denzel Ingram netted a career-high 16 points off the bench as Charlotte routed Lamar for a 70-49, nonconference victory Saturday night.

The 49ers (3-0) held the Cardinals (0-3) to 31.1 percent (19 of 61) from the field and 0 for 10 on 3-point tries. Lamar turned the ball over 22 times, creating 25 points for Charlotte, and had just nine assists as a team.

The Cardinals led briefly in the first half, but a 25-4 49ers' run put Lamar behind 29-12 with 6:55 left in the stanza. The visitors never recovered.

Charlotte led 39-22 at the half, shooting 53.1 percent (17 of 32) in the opening 20 minutes.

DeMario Mayfield had 12 points for Charlotte, and Terrence Williams had 10.

Ingram, a freshman, also had four steals and three assists.

Rhon Mitchell led Lamar with 14 points, and his 10 rebounds were second only to Stan Brown's 11.
