Charleston Southern defeats Presbyterian 73-65

CLINTON, S.C. (AP) Saah Nimley scored 19 points after halftime, posting a career-best 30 for the second straight game as Charleston Southern defeated Presbyterian 73-65 Saturday night.

The Buccaneers (10-7, 4-2 Big South) shot just 31 percent (20-65) but only turned the ball over three times all game while forcing 16 from Presbyterian. Charleston Southern also scored 23 points in 30 trips to the foul line.

The Blue Hose (6-13, 2-4) made 24 of 50 field goals and were 9 of 13 at the line. Jordan Downing led with a season-high 29 points.

Nimley scored six as Charleston Southern broke away with an 8-2 run after halftime. Will Saunders made three straight foul shots and Arlon Harper another as the Buccaneers soon led by 12, 46-34.

Presbyterian battled to within four, 58-54 at 3:16 remaining, when Downing scored a 3 and a layup. But Nimley and Will Saunders knocked down three straight 3s.
