Campbell beats USCAA-member Johnson & Wales 87-53

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) Troy Harper scored 14 points, and D.J. Mason had 11 points and 10 rebounds to help Campbell beat Johnson & Wales (N.C.) 87-53 Wednesday night.

Johnson & Wales led once at 2-0 before Campbell answered with a 10-0 run. The Camels extended their lead to 31-8 midway through the half after Johnson & Wales went scoreless for five-plus minutes.

Kyre' Hamer scored on three straight Campbell possessions early in the second half, including back-to-back 3-pointers, to extend Campbell's lead to 62-30.

Chris Clemons scored 11 points to record his ninth straight game in double figures for Campbell (6-3), which has won five of its last six games.

Last season, Campbell beat Johnson & Wales 63-38 to set a Gore Arena record for fewest points allowed.

Johnson & Wales, a United States Collegiate Athletic Association member, was led by Nick Crawford's 17 points. The Wildcats have lost six of their last seven games.
