Cal Poly Pomona tops Indiana (Pa.) for title 65-53

Donnelle Booker scored 13 points, Austin Swift added 12 points and six rebounds, and Cal Poly Pomona won its first NCAA Division II championship with a 65-53 victory over Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday.
The Broncos led by double digits for most of the second half at the MassMutual Center, rebounding from a loss in last year's final to Findlay on a last second 3-pointer.
Cal Poly (28-6) won 21 of its final 22 games after starting the season 7-5. The loss snapped a 15-game winning streak for the Crimson Hawks (33-3).
Swift was named the Elite Eight's Most Outstanding Player.
Darryl Webb had 12 points and 13 rebounds for IUP, while Akida McLain added 10 points, all in the second half, and seven rebounds.
Dahir Nasser had 12 points for the Broncos and joined Swift and Webb on the All-Tournament team. Taylor Witt and Matt Schneck of St. Cloud State also were honored.
The Broncos took charge from the start, with the defense that stifled Bentley in the second half of their semifinal being similarly stingy against the Crimson Hawks.
IUP struggled out of the gate against the Bronco zone, missing its first seven shots. The Hawks didn't make a field goal until Ashton Smith hit a 3-pointer from a step left of the top of the key 7:52 into the game.
By then Cal Poly was leading 13-5. It's advantage reached 14 points at 27-13 with 7:29 remaining before IUP cut it to 35-25 at halftime.
The Crimson Hawks never got on track shooting in the half, making just 6 of 21 shots from he floor, but stayed afloat at the free throw line, where they hit 10 of 12.
McLain was scoreless in first half with foul trouble. He gave the Crimson Hawks a lift by scoring their first six points after intermission, but IUP couldn't get enough stops to get back into the game.
