California has granted guard D.J. Seeley a release from his scholarship to allow him to transfer to another school.

The Golden Bears made the announcement on Monday. Seeley has two years of eligibility remaining.

Seeley played in 25 games for Cal this past season. He averaged 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. He averaged 2.0 points and 0.9 rebounds in 26 games as a freshman.

With starting guards Jerome Randle and Patrick Christopher graduating, the Bears had been counting on Seeley to be a key contributor next season.
