Scott Saunders scored 23 points and Belmont defeated Marshall 79-74 on Thursday night.

Saunders was 8 of 16 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line for the Bruins, who made their few 3-pointers at an opportune time.

Belmont (9-5) was just 4 of 12 from long range, but went 3 of 3 during a key stretch. Tied at 14 with 8:15 left in the first half, Kerron Johnson and Trevor Noack made back-to-back 3's to spark a 13-1 Bruins' run. J.J. Man's 3-pointer capped the spurt with 5:14 to play.

Johnson finished with 16 points for Belmont, which improved to 6-0 at home this season.
