Baron scores 38 pts; Canisius beats Marist 78-65

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Billy Baron scored 38 points, tying a season-high, in leading Canisius to a 78-65 victory over Marist on Sunday.
Baron entered the game ranked fourth in the nation in scoring (23.5 points per game). He was 12 of 23 from the field, made five 3-pointers and 9 of 10 free throws on the day. Chris Manhertz added 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Canisius (14-7, 8-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).
Canisius ran away from Marist in the first half, leading 38-24 with Baron scoring 25 points. The Golden Griffins went on a 22-4 run in the final 7 minutes of the half.
Marist beat Canisius on Jan. 4, handing the Golden Griffins one of their two MAAC losses. Canisius remains tied atop the conference with Iona.
Chavaughn Lewis scored 18 points, Khallid Hart added 17, and Jay Bowie had 12 and grabbed 12 rebounds for Marist (6-14, 3-7).
