Freshman forward Mo Hubbard turned a missed lay-up into the game-winning basket with 1:09 left Sunday as Ball State held off Buffalo in a 53-51 win that snapped the Bulls' nine-game winning streak. The two teams had traded leads throughout the second half when Buffalo's Vadim Fedotov converted a put-back with 1:31 left to tie the game at 51. The Cardinals (11-12, 6-5 Mid-American) got the ball to Jarrod Jones, whose lay-up rolled off the rim before Hubbard converted the missed shot into the game-winning shot at 1:09. Buffalo (17-6, 9-2 MAC) had a shot to tie the game on the next possession but Greg Gamble missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw opportunity to give the Cardinals the ball and the win. The win moves Ball State into sole possession of first place in the MAC West Division. Jones led Ball State with a game-high 13 points and nine rebounds, while Max Boudreau led Buffalo with 13 points off the bench.
