While much of the attention is on the Badger Football team currently as the season gets into full swing, yesterday was a big day for the Wisconsin Men’s Basketball Program as well. Student season tickets went on sale bright and early yesterday morning and Seniors Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig had an intriguing proposition put fourth for its Grateful Red members. Hayes posted on Twitter that if the students managed to break the record that he and fellow Senior Bronson Koenig would buy doughnuts for every student who bought a ticket.

With 7 minutes and five seconds being the previous record, it’s safe to say that doughnuts were a driving hunger behind the student body as they shattered the record and sold out in just THREE MINUTES. Quite an impressive feat if you ask me. This sell out marks not only the fastest record, but also thee twelfth sell out in the last 15 seasons. For the lucky students who were able to get tickets, you’re sure in for an exciting ride as they enter the season at #13 in the country, somewhat underrated if you ask me. Hayes and Koenig return for their senior season along with Guard Zak Showalter. The Badgers were often seen as a young and inexperienced team last season, but a year later the Badgers have veteran leaders who know how to win, along with experienced role players. With Coach Gard now very comfortable in the role of head coach, the Badgers roster looks set for another deep postseason run. While football season is still the main focus for most, don’t look for a fallback in excitement when basketball season rolls around.
