A Kentucky coroner says final autopsy results have confirmed that an enlarged heart caused the death of a University of Southern Indiana basketball player who collapsed during a game last month.

Daviess County Coroner Bob Howe says tests found that 21-year-old Jeron Lewis suffered from enlargement of the heart muscle and thickening of its walls. Lewis collapsed on the court Jan. 14 during a game at Kentucky Wesleyan.

Howe says Lewis likely didn't know about his heart condition.

The 6-foot-8 Lewis was averaging 12.3 points and a team-high 8.1 rebounds a game for Southern Indiana, which is 20-0 and has the longest active winning streak in Division II.
