Army rolls to 93-54 win over Ferrum

WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) Kevin Ferguson scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Army to a 93-54 victory over Ferrum on Friday night.

Tanner Plomb added 17 points and Kyle Wilson, the leading scorer in the Patriot League the past two seasons, had 15. Army, in its 114th season opener, returned seven seniors, the most in program history.

Ferguson had 14 points and Wilson 10 in the first half when the Black Knights took off to a 48-29 halftime lead. They scored nine straight points to open the second half to lead 59-29. Army shot 55.2 percent, including 7 of 19 from 3-point range, and had a 38-29 rebounding edge.

Alek Ayer scored 16 points for the Division III Panthers.

Ferrum head coach Bill Tharp is a 1996 West Point graduate who played two seasons of basketball for Army. He went on to serve as an artillery officer for five years.
