Arkansas St. 65, Louisiana-Monroe 63

Marcus Hooten hit a jumper, was fouled with 4.8 seconds left and made the ensuing free throw to give Arkansas State a 65-63 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.
The Red Wolves (7-8, 1-0 Sun Belt Conference) trailed 31-22 at halftime and outscored the Warhawks 43-32 in the second half, while turning the ball over just once. Arkansas State scored 11 points off of six second-half turnovers by Louisiana-Monroe (1-14, 0-2).
The Red Wolves shot 58.3 percent in the second half (14 of 24), after going 8 of 22 from the field in the first (36.4 percent).
Brandon Peterson paced Arkansas State with 18 points and Hooten finished with 16. Ed Townsel added 14 points and Malcoln Kirkland added 10 for the Red Wolves.
Fred Brown scored 20 points to lead the Red Wolves, who lost their eight straight.
