Arkansas Men's Basketball Takes on Austin Peay

The Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team looks to continue working through some early season struggles at home against Austin Peay this coming Saturday.

Arkansas (5-1) hasn’t had the strongest start to the season. Judging by the win-loss total, one might think they had it figured out but head coach Mike Anderson feels there’s a lot of work to do.

First-half struggles and slow starts for key veterans could put the Hogs in trouble against a decent to good team. Anderson has said a couple times that in particular, Kingsley is going to have to get momentum going early. The Hogs look to take the discussion to the hardwood as they take on Austin Peay (4-3).

The Governors are coming off a 103-99 loss to Fort Waye who the Razorbacks beat in their season opener 92-83. Three names to look for from Austin Peay are Josh Robinson, who is averaging 23.3 points per game, Kenny Jones, and John Murry, who average 15.1 and 14.3 ppg.

One thing I expect to see is the continuation of Arkansas getting their speed rolling to cause disruption for the Governors. Against Stephen F. Austin, the Hogs forced 21 turnovers with a faster-paced game than they had previously been playing. Austin Peay is averaging 12 turnovers per game. Against an opponent like Arkansas, I expect to see that average look low.

The thing that we as Razorback fans need to be happy with is progression each game. Arkansas is clearly demonstrating that they are starting to mesh just a bit offensively so I am looking for a more fluid fast paced offense Saturday in a big win over the Governors.

The Razorbacks are hoping to continue to make Bud Walton a place teams come to lose as they are undefeated at home for the season. Some help from the fans wouldn’t hurt either. Tipoff is at 7:00 this Saturday at BWA. You can catch it on WatchESPN. Woo Pig!
