John Schoof scored the game's final four points - all free throws - as American University topped Maryland-Baltimore County 73-70 in double overtime Thursday night in a nonconference contest.

With American (4-5) trailing 70-69 with 2:06 left in the second overtime, Schoof, whose 19 points tied Daniel Munoz for the team high, hit both free throws after being fouled by Chase Plummer. The teams combined to miss four shots from the floor the rest of the way, with Schoof hitting two more foul shots with 10 seconds left.

Schoof made two free throws to put the Eagles up 67-64 with 1:58 left in the first overtime, but Plummer (16 points) hit a jumper and a free throw to tie the game.

After Stephen Lumpkins' layup put American ahead 69-67 in the second overtime, Plummer drained a 3, setting up Schoof's free throws.
