Jonathan Boyd scored 21 points as Alcorn State ended a difficult season on a positive note by defeating Prairie View A&M 69-67 on Saturday night.
The Braves (2-29, 2-16 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who lost their first 24 games this season, made 66.7 percent of their shots (16-for-24) in the second half to 18.8 percent (3-for-16) by the Panthers (16-13, 11-7), who led 42-25 after the first half.
Prairie View A&M won the teams' first meeting this season 82-60.
Boyd, a senior guard, ended his Alcorn State career by making 7 of 13 shots, including 3-for-7 from 3-point range. Ian Francis and Brandon Rogers added 12 points apiece for the Braves.

Tim Meadows scored 13 points to lead Prairie View A&M.
