Albany beats NJIT 65-59 for 13th straight win

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Sam Rowley scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half and Albany closed the final 23 seconds with five straight points to beat New Jersey Tech 65-59 on Friday night.
Albany (18-7) took the lead for good with a 6-0 run to go up 60-54 with 2:29 left, but NJIT (15-11) closed to 60-59 with 46 seconds left.
Evan Singletary's layup pushed the lead back to three. Although Albany then missed three consecutive free throws, Ray Sanders made his second attempt with nine seconds left to give Albany a four-point lead. Peter Hooley added two more at the foul line with a second left.
Sanders added 12 points for the Great Danes, who won their 13th straight. Hooley, Singletary and Dallas Ennema added 10 points apiece.
Tim Coleman and Winfield Willis had 15 points each as the Highlanders saw their five-game winning streak snapped. Damon Lynn scored 12.
