GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) Jamel Waters scored six of his 15 points in the final 1:11 as Alabama State, after falling behind by as many as seven in the second half, rallied past Mississippi Valley State 75-70 on Saturday night.

The Hornets (14-7, 8-2 Southwest Athletic Conference) won their fourth straight and are second in the SWAC behind Southern. Southern's lone conference loss came at the hands of the Delta Devils (8-15, 4-6). The Devils were riding a three-game conference win streak into the Alabama State game.

The Devils took the lead 68-67 on a Jeffrey Simmons jumper, and surged ahead once more 70-69 on a layup by DeAngelo Priar inside the final minute. Each time Waters had the answer for Alabama State, his jumper with 41 seconds left putting the Hornets up for keeps, 71-70.

James Currington led the Delta Devils with 16 points. The game saw 11 lead changes and eight ties.
