Tramaine Butler scored 16 points and Menji Mundadi added 15 to lead Alabama State to a 69-61 victory against Texas Southern on Saturday.
Tramayne Moorer had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Hornets (13-13, 10-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference).
DeAndre Hall scored 17 points and Junior Treasure added 13 for Texas Southern (12-15, 8-7).
Alabama State took control with an 11-0 run that gave it a 49-38 lead with 12:13 remaining. Mundadi had seven points during the surge.
