Former NBA star Michael Adams was named assistant men's basketball coach at St. Bonaventure on Tuesday.
Adams spent this past season as head coach of Archbishop Carroll high school in Washington, D.C., after two seasons under Gary Williams at Maryland.
The native of Hartford was one of the most prolific 3-point shooters in NBA history during an 11-year career that included stints in Sacramento, Washington, Denver and Charlotte. He led the league in 3's in 1987-88 and 1990-91, and made at least one 3-pointer in 79 straight games - the second-longest streak all-time - during a span that bridged the 1988-89 and 1990-91 seasons.
Adams also was the head coach of the WNBA's Washington Mystics in 2004.
