Mexican challenger Gamaliel Diaz defeated Takahiro Ao of Japan by unanimous decision on Saturday to capture the WBC super featherweight title.
Diaz opened a cut over Ao's left eye early in the fight at Tokyo International Forum and dominated for the remainder of the bout to improve to 29 wins, nine losses and two draws.
Ao, who was making his fourth title defense, dropped to 23-3 with one draw.
