Chechen man gets 20 years for murdering ex-boxer

A regional criminal court on Wednesday ruled that the man, whose identity was was not revealed under Austrian privacy laws, was guilty of murder.

He stabbed the 50-year-old Secovic to death on the sidewalk in front of the boxer's own pub in a southern Vienna district.

The man's attorney Lennart Binder said he would appeal the verdict.

The Serbia-born Secovic won the WAA super middleweight world title in 1988 and added a European title in the same category a year later. He was Austria's most successful boxer - winning 30 of his 40 professional fights before retiring in 2002.
