ANNOUNCER: Hannover went into this game looking to end a five-game losing streak, facing an in-form Werder Bremen, who've just handed head coach Florian Kohfeldt a long-term contract.

The opening 17 minutes were cautious from both sides, without a single shot-- that was until Martin Harnik nipped in at the near post to score against his former club. He's been enduring something of a goal drought-- this his first of 2018.

Bremen had chances after that, but they didn't look like a side that won six of their last eight. And before half time, they were 2 down. Felix Klaus could not miss after Marvin Bakalorz had hit the post. The clipped ball from Bebou made it. Klaus, Wolfsburg-bound in the summer, doing his best to keep his current club in the Bundesliga.

Zlatko Junuzovic was a slight injury concern for this one, but after a superb showing in the win over Frankfurt, they had to bring him on. But it was Thomas Delaney who worked a remarkable assist for a Bremen goal back on 74 minutes. Ishak Belfodil scored for the second away game running. Delaney's cross unorthodox, but very, very effective.

Hanover had been beaten 4-0 by Werder Bremen earlier in the season, and they began to play deeper and deeper here. But they did have a chance to really kill the game. Ihlas Bebou hasn't scored since December in the Bundesliga, and Jiri Pavlenka, superb this season, was sharp to keep him out.

Kohfeldt was, perhaps, too slow in making further changes. Sure enough, the late substitution of Milot Rashica would create a chance in added time, but Sebastian Langkamp failed to take it. A needed Hannover a victory. It would take an almighty disaster for either of these sides to be relegated now.
