Josiah Gray - Back in big leagues The Nationals activated Gray (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Thursday, Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com reports.
Impact Gray has not pitched in the big leagues since April 2024, as he was rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and also more recently a flexor strain. The righty was unscored upon in his final eight rehab appearances, though he struck out only four batters in 8.1 frames over that stretch. Gray could eventually get another opportunity in the Nationals' rotation, but he'll be deployed as a reliever down the stretch of this season.

Connelly Early - Tracking toward Sept. 26 return Nationals president of baseball operations Paul Toboni said Wednesday that Early (elbow) is tentatively scheduled to make his team debut Sept. 26 against the Mets, Spencer Nusbaum...
Impact Early made his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, allowing three runs and throwing 35 pitches in one inning. The southpaw is scheduled to throw again Sunday -- presumably at Rochester -- before making his Nationals debut on the penultimate day of the regular season. Acquired at the trade deadline from the Red Sox, Early has missed the better part of three months with left elbow inflammation.

Riley Cornelio - Fares well behind opener Cornelio didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Phillies, striking out one while allowing no hits and two walks in 2.2 relief innings.
Impact Opener Jared Simpson couldn't find the plate Wednesday, walking four in one-third of an inning, but Cornelio helped settle things down out of the bullpen before handing things over to Will Dion. The Nationals don't appear to be ready to expand his workload, however, as Cornelio has not yet reached the 50-pitch marker in any of his last four outings since being recalled from the minor leagues. He has a 4.45 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 32:24 K:BB in 30.1 major-league innings this year.

Andrew Pinckney - Optioned to Rochester The Nationals optioned Pinckney to Triple-A Rochester after Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
Impact Pinckney was recalled from Triple-A on Thursday and went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored during his brief stint in the majors. Unless the Nationals need to replace an injured player down the stretch, the 25-year-old will most likely play out the rest of the season at Rochester.

Jacob Young - Taking seat Young is not in the lineup for Wednesday's tilt versus the Phillies.
Impact Young started the last five contests in center field, but he'll get a break Wednesday. Dylan Crews will play center field for the Nationals, and he'll be flanked by Daylen Lile and James Wood.

Brady House - Out of lineup Wednesday House is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Phillies.
Impact House manned third base in the first game of the series Tuesday, but he'll take a seat in this one. Jorbit Vivas will cover the hot corner for the Nationals on Wednesday.
SEPTEMBER 16 • ROTOWIRE
CJ Abrams - Back in Nationals' lineup Abrams (neck) will start at second base and bat cleanup in Wednesday's contest versus the Phillies.
Impact Abrams was unable to play Tuesday because of neck tightness, but he's ready to roll after one day to rest. It's the sixth career start at second base for Abrams, who has split time between the two middle infield positions over the last two-plus weeks.

Connelly Early - Labors through first rehab start Early (elbow) was charged with three runs on two hits and two walks over one inning in his first rehab start with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.
Impact Making his first appearance since late June, Early showed considerable rust in needing 35 pitches to get through his lone inning of work. He averaged 93 mph with his four-seamer in the outing, which is one mph less than his average for the season. As long as Early recovers well from the start, he could make his Nationals debut next week. It would be an abbreviated outing but could offer the southpaw some peace of mind with his health heading into the offseason. Early missed nearly three months with left elbow inflammation.
