World Baseball Classic Updates, Score: USA Defeats Mexico, Improves To 3-0
Updated: Mar 09, 2026 - 11:20 PM ET
Mexico didn't make it easy, but team USA held on.
Garrett Whitlock forced Alek Thomas, who was the tying run, to ground out, securing the save and USA the 5-3 victory. Paul Skenes earned the win in Monday's game after pitching four scoreless innings, while home runs from Aaron Judge and Roman Anthony helped build a lead. But when Skenes was pulled from the game, Mexico surged back with Jarren Duran hitting two home runs off Matthew Boyd. After that scare, the bullpen locked down and helped USA improve to 3-0.
Here are the top moments and highlights from Monday's game.
