Stephens scores 19, American defeats Holy Cross 84-65

WASHINGTON (AP) — Elijah Stephens scored 19 points as American beat Holy Cross 84-65 on Wednesday night.

Stephens also had six assists and five steals for the Eagles (11-9, 5-2 Patriot League). Matt Mayock was 6 of 9 shooting (2 for 5 from 3-point range) to add 16 points. Matt Rogers shot 6 for 9, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc to finish with 14 points.

Joseph Octave finished with 23 points and nine rebounds for the Crusaders (5-15, 2-5). Caleb Kenney added 13 points and two blocks for Holy Cross. DeAndre Williams also had nine points and two steals.
