Filipovity scores 20, Maine takes down NJIT 70-64

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Peter Filipovity scored 20 points as Maine beat NJIT 70-64 on Saturday.

Filipovity also contributed 13 rebounds for the Black Bears (9-10, 1-3 America East Conference). Kellen Tynes added 12 points while shooting 4 for 11 (0 for 3 from 3-point range) and 4 of 5 from the free throw line, and he also had eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Adam Cisse had 12 points and was 4 of 5 shooting and 4 of 5 from the free throw line. The victory broke a six-game losing streak for the Black Bears.

Mekhi Gray led the Highlanders (4-13, 0-5) in scoring, finishing with 21 points. Tariq Francis added 18 points, six rebounds and four assists for NJIT. In addition, Kjell de Graaf had 11 points and two blocks.
