Pierce out of season opener with bruised heel

Boston forward Paul Pierce missed the NBA season opener at New
York because of a bruised right heel, and the Celtics hope he can
return Tuesday when they visit Miami.

Sasha Pavlovic started at forward for the Celtics on Sunday.
Coach Doc Rivers says Pierce did little during a light practice
Saturday, making it an easy decision to sideline the All-Star.

Rivers says he might bring Pierce off the bench when he can
play, since he has had only one practice so far.

Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni says he would likely be without
backup point guard Mike Bibby because of a sore back.
