NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31346480 Try it on! Try+it+on%21 NBA

Dwight Howard's trade to the Lakers dominated the headlines, but he's not the only prominent NBA player to switch teams this summer. Let's look at the other big names in new uniforms and rank them based on the impact they could have this season.

Jayne Kamin-Oncea - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/29/092912-3-NBA-Lakers-Dwight-Howard-OB-G_20120929195349513_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/29/092912-3-NBA-Lakers-Dwight-Howard-OB-G_20120929195349513_107_80.JPG
NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344743 Dwight Howard, Lakers Dwight+Howard%2C+Lakers NBA

Move: Traded by Orlando to Los Angeles as part of a four-team deal.

The summer move that dwarfed all others, of course, was the blockbuster that sent Howard to the Lakers to join Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash. With that supporting cast, he doesn't need to be an offensive force, but he must dominate on defense to compensate for his aging teammates. Anything short of a championship will be a disappointment.

NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344741 Andrew Bynum, Sixers Andrew+Bynum%2C+Sixers NBA

Move: Traded to Philadelphia by the Los Angeles Lakers as part of a four-team deal that included Jason Richardson.

The Sixers did pretty well last season without two important ingredients for NBA success: size and a superstar. They may have filled both needs with their shocking trade for Bynum, who is both huge (7-foot, 285 pounds) and skilled on both ends of the court. Bynum seems eager to step out of Kobe Bryant's shadow and prove he can carry a team, but that will require more consistency and maturity than he showed in LA.

NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344740 Andre Iguodala, Nuggets Andre+Iguodala%2C+Nuggets NBA

Move: Traded to Denver by Philadelphia as part of a four-team deal.

Lost in the hubbub of the Dwight Howard-Andrew Bynum trade was Denver's reward for helping facilitate the deal. Iguodala should be a perfect fit for the fast-paced Nuggets, who have plenty of scorers but need the lockdown defense and all-around excellence of the Team USA gold medalist. The addition of Iguodala makes Denver an intriguing dark horse in the Western Conference.

NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31398230 James Harden, Rockets James+Harden%2C+Rockets NBA

Move: Traded by Oklahoma City along with Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook and Lazar Hayward to Houston for Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, two first-round picks and a second-rounder.

This shocker a few days before the season opener changed the complexion of the West race. Unable to agree on a contract extension with the 2012 Sixth Man of the Year, the Thunder dealt him to the Rockets, who desperately wanted a star to build around. Whether Harden becomes a true franchise player remains to be seen, but it will certainly be tough for OKC to continue its ascent without him.

Mark J. Rebilas - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/10/28/102812-NBA-James-Harden-gallery_20121028154540342_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/10/28/102812-NBA-James-Harden-gallery_20121028154540342_107_80.JPG
NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344742 Joe Johnson, Nets Joe+Johnson%2C+Nets NBA

Move: Traded to Brooklyn by Atlanta for five players and a draft pick.

Johnson's absurd contract (four years, $89M remaining) doesn't worry Nets billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov, who just wants to build a contender in Brooklyn. Johnson, 31, remains an outstanding all-around player. And the backcourt of Johnson and point guard Deron Williams (right) may be the best in the league.

Steven Freeman/NBAE - USA TODAY Sports http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G4_2012092821552567_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G4_2012092821552567_107_80.JPG
NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344739 Steve Nash, Lakers Steve+Nash%2C+Lakers+ NBA

Move: Dealt to Los Angeles in sign-and-trade with Phoenix for four draft picks.

The Suns accommodated Nash's wishes by working out a sign-and-trade deal with the Lakers, creating a fascinating backcourt pairing of former MVPs. Will Nash mesh with Kobe Bryant? Probably so. After all, Nash has spent a career of making teammates look good. But he doesn't need to make Bryant, Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol any better. He just needs to help them win a championship.

Andrew D. Bernstein/NBAE - Getty Images http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G5_2012092821552565_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G5_2012092821552565_107_80.JPG
NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344744 Jeremy Lin, Rockets Jeremy+Lin%2C+Rockets NBA

Move: Free agent signed a three-year, $25M deal with Houston.

Hard to believe the Knicks let the point guard leave so soon after the Linsanity phenomenon reinvigorated the franchise and took the world by storm. But the question remains whether Lin was a flash in the pan or a genuine star for the long haul. Either way, the answer will be delivered out of the New York spotlight, which is probably fine with Lin.

NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344749 Andrei Kirilenko, Timberwolves Andrei+Kirilenko%2C+Timberwolves NBA

Move: Free agent signed a two-year, $20M deal with Minnesota.

Kirilenko returned to Russia during the lockout and stayed there last season, winning the EuroLeague MVP award and leading his country to a surprise bronze medal at the Olympics. At 31, the spidery 6-9 forward can provide two things the young Timberwolves badly need: defense and veteran leadership.

NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344746 Jason Terry, Celtics Jason+Terry%2C+Celtics NBA

Move: Free agent signed a three-year, $15.7M deal with Boston.

The Celtics may not miss Ray Allen one bit if Terry slides seamlessly into the sixth-man role he played so well in Dallas for eight years. At 35, Terry is a few years younger than Allen and averaged 15.1 points last season. He should give Boston's bench a much-needed boost and he won't be afraid to take big shots.

Brian Babineau/NBAE - Getty Images http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G7_2012092821573378_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G7_2012092821573378_107_80.JPG
NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344748 Ray Allen, Heat Ray+Allen%2C+Heat NBA

Move: Free agent signed a two-year, $6.3M deal with Miami.

Feeling unappreciated in Boston, the NBA's all-time leader in 3-pointers shocked Celtics fans by joining the team's archrival. In truth, at this stage of his career, he's probably a better fit with the Heat, who don't need him to create his own shot. With drive-and-dish creators like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, Allen just needs to spot up and shoot.

Mike Ehrmann - Getty Images http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G8_2012092821573479_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G8_2012092821573479_107_80.JPG
NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344747 Ben Gordon, Bobcats Ben+Gordon%2C+Bobcats NBA

Move: Traded to Charlotte by Detroit for Corey Maggette.

An explosive scorer with the Bulls, Gordon never found his groove in three seasons with the Pistons as part of a crowded backcourt rotation. He'll get plenty of minutes and plenty of shots for the offensively challenged Bobcats, who went 7-59 last season. He'll make Charlotte better, which isn't necessarily saying much.

Kent Smith/NBAE - Getty Images http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G9_2012092821573376_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G9_2012092821573376_107_80.JPG
NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344750 Lamar Odom, Clippers Lamar+Odom%2C+Clippers+ NBA

Move: Traded to Los Angeles by Dallas as part of a four-team deal.

Cut loose by the Mavs following one disastrous season in Dallas, Odom returns to his former stomping grounds in LA, where he won two titles with the Lakers and, of course, met his future wife and reality star Khloe Kardashian. The Clippers hope Odom can become a basketball star again and spark one of the deepest benches in the league.

Andrew D. Bernstein/NBAE - Getty Images http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G11_2012092821594485_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G11_2012092821594485_107_80.JPG
NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344751 Ryan Anderson, Hornets Ryan+Anderson%2C+Hornets NBA

Move: Dealt to New Orleans in sign-and-trade with Orlando for center Gustavo Ayon.

Anderson just had a breakout season for the Magic, leading the league in 3-pointers (166) while averaging 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds. But Orlando, knowing it would be in rebuilding mode following Dwight Howard's departure, didn't want to pay market value for the restricted free agent. So Anderson signed a four-year, $34M deal and should provide a nice complement to No. 1 pick Anthony Davis with the Hornets.

NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31347366 Brandon Roy, Timberwolves Brandon+Roy%2C+Timberwolves NBA

Move: Free agent signed a two-year, $10.4M deal with Minnesota.

Brandon Roy?! Didn't he retire? Well, yes he did last year because his knees were supposedly shot. But after undergoing the platelet-rich plasma procedure that's all the rage these days, he decided to attempt a comeback with the Wolves, who desperately need a shooting guard to run with Ricky Rubio and take pressure off Kevin Love. At 28, Roy should be in his prime. But it all depends on his knees.

David Sherman/NBAE - Getty Images http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G13_2012092821594487_600_400.JPG http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2012/09/28/092812-NBA-faces-in-new-places-OB-G13_2012092821594487_107_80.JPG
NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344752 Rashard Lewis, Heat Rashard+Lewis%2C+Heat NBA

Move: Free agent signed a two-year, $2.75M deal with Miami.

An All-Star in 2009, when he helped Orlando reach the NBA Finals, Lewis has regressed the past three seasons. Traded twice, benched, then amnestied, he could be rejuvenated by the chance to play for the defending champions. If he can regain his 3-point stroke and provide a little interior defense and rebounding, the 6-foot-10 Lewis could create even more matchup headaches for Heat opponents.

NBA 73 43 NBA faces in new places 31344753 Jason Kidd, Knicks Jason+Kidd%2C+Knicks+ NBA

Move: Free agent signed a three-year, $9.3M deal with New York.

Entering the 19th NBA season of a Hall of Fame career, Kidd is expected to back up Raymond Felton and do what he does best: provide leadership and keep teammates happy. If he can improve the Knicks' combustible team chemistry, he may make New York fans forget about Jeremy Lin.
