News: Lopez scored 17 points (7-15 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT) in Thursday's preseason win over the Pistons. He also compiled nine rebounds and two blocked shots.
Impact: The most notable part of Lopez's line were the two three-point attempts, an element that the big man is looking to add to his game in 2015-16. Lopez has already fired off three tries from three-point land during the preseason, hitting only one. It's still expected that Lopez will do most of his scoring damage in the post this season, but if he can at least show some semblance of ability from long range, it should help the Nets with their spacing on offense.

News: Nets coach Lionel Hollins said Lopez could attempt more three-point shots this season, Tim Bontemps of New York Post reports. "He's been working on them," Hollins said. "So it may be sometimes we might let him be out there."
Impact: The Nets have hinted in previous years that Lopez might start expanding his range, so these latest reports shouldn't offer much optimism that the big man will spend more time floating around the perimeter. Even if he doesn't add a notable amount of three-pointers to his repertoire, Lopez could be positioned to climb above the 20-point-per-game threshold again, as he's the Nets' clear No. 1 option on offense now that Deron Williams is out of the picture. Of course, health remains the overriding concern with Lopez, who has played five, 74, 17, and 72 games the last four seasons while being dogged by foot problems.
