WWE announced Wednesday that four-time WWE champion Alberto Del Rio has been suspended 30 days for violating the company's Talent Wellness Program.

Del Rio had just appeared in the main event of SmackDown on Tuesday, and lost a match against John Cena.

Del Rio was left off the SummerSlam card and was not scheduled to appear Sunday. His 30-day suspension means Del Rio will also miss SmackDown's first solo pay-per-view, Backlash, on September 11th.
Del Rio joins an elite group of stars to violate the wellness policy in 2016, which includes Roman Reigns, Konnor and Adam Rose (who was later released).
