WWE Roadblock 2016: 3 Losers from the Show

Who lost the most momentum after WWE Roadblock: End Of The Line?

Roadblock: End Of The Line certainly had its moments. However, the PPV limped at times as well. There were moments that created an instant spark energy. The crowd chanted ‘Thank you Neville’ as he made an unexpected heel turn and targeted the cruiserweight champion. The mini Shield spot after the PPV was also a sight to see.

However, the much-hyped Sasha-Charlotte iron-man match dragged without a result for the first 20 minutes. One would also have to raise questions about the logic of the outcome as well. Seth Rollins collided with Chris Jericho in a match that didn’t live up to the level of talent involved. Roman Reigns would look to make history as the first ever United States and Universal champion in the WWE.

New Day’s record title reign is over at 480 days. These were some of the notable moments during the PPV. However, who came out of the PPV with more momentum? Who came out more damaged and with even less momentum? Join us as analyze the events of the night to bring out the 3 biggest losers from Roadblock: End of the Line.

3. Enzo and Cass

It’s hard to root for these two when one is obviously confused by the direction this storyline is going. Any sane individual would question Enzo’s motives for deciding to go after Lana. One would also have to question Cass acting as if Enzo was doing the right thing. On the flip side, Rusev who has been billed as the heel here seems to make the most sense.

Rusev is simply a husband trying to defend his wife’s honor against a cocky Enzo Amore and his over-sized protector. Fans love to cheer for Enzo and Cass. They would send the crowd into a frenzy every time they walked out. However, with such blemished logic and tarnished storylines, it is hard to cheer for Enzo or Cass at this point.

The fact that Cass would lose to Rusev adds insult to injury. A feud that started by a naked Enzo walking around the hall is not doing either of them any good. Creative would be wise to pull the plug on this feud and do it fast. Cass Vs Rusev is a pairing that has a lot of potential. They are both agile big men who can produce good matches. However, there would be plenty of other ways to build on that feud. Enzo hitting on Lana is not one of them.

2. Sasha Banks

The Women’s title continued to play hot potato at Roadblock as well. Sasha lost the title to Charlotte again after the 30-minute Iron Man match went into a tie at 2-2. We would then go on to a tie-breaker sudden death round and Charlotte would capitalize on that.

Charlotte Flair is now a four-time WWE Raw Women’s champion. Moreover, her unbeaten record at PPVs is still intact. However, at what cost has this been achieved? Sasha’s 3rd title reign has fallen short within mere weeks of winning it. Moreover, every time she lost the belt, she was the one to propose a challenge. When you propose challenges in the name of making history and then end up losing every single one of them, you would end up on the list of losers.

Sasha Banks is a great female wrestler. However, creative not giving her a lengthy title run has seriously affected her momentum. Moreover, the Boss would come out of Roadblock without a title or a clear direction as to what the future holds for her. One of the best female performers on the entire roster deserves better treatment from the creative team.

1. Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens would walk into Roadblock as the WWE Universal champion. His best friend Chris Jericho would ensure he stayed the champion at the end of the show. However, getting hit with a codebreaker and then later going through a table does not make one look good. Moreover, the prized fighter spent much of the PPV trying to get his best friend back.

No, that does not make the WWE Universal champion look good at all. However, credit has to be given where its due. Owens made the most out of his title defense match. He was a cunning and convincing heel as he tried to take out Roman Reigns. But, things did not look good for the champion if we consider the entire night.

Owens’ title reign has been overshadowed by many factors. First of all, triple H handing him the title and then disappearing without any explanation is a let-down. Not having a solid backing from the authority unlike Rollins, if Owens was indeed the new choice did not help either. Finally, being in the shadow of Jericho does not help him. Owens seemed much like a whiny kid rather than a cold heel. Owens should have taken out Jericho and then blasted Reigns with a chair to retain his title via disqualification. What went on during the match and afterward did not help the champ at all.
