WWE Hell in a Cell 2016: Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte to Main Event
Sasha Banks and Charlotte will continue to make history by being the main event of WWE Hell in a Cell.
Sasha Banks and Charlotte will have the first-ever women’s Hell in a Cell match for the Raw Women’s Championship in less than two weeks. This will culminate a feud that arguably started in January and has been off and on since. They’ve been in five pay-per-view matches with each other, including tag team bouts since the start of the year.
With two other Hell in a Cell matches at Hell in a Cell, there had been the question of which one would headline the show. The others are Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs. Rusev.
Well, on Tuesday, Raw General Manager Mick Foley announced that Banks and Charlotte will main event Hell in a Cell. He discussed it in this Facebook post:
It’s a landmark announcement for the WWE women’s division, which has come leaps and bounds over the past year. We went from two or three-minute matches with lackluster feuds to appropriate time being give to tell a story.
This is a chance for Banks and Charlotte to put their latest stamp on this women’s revolution. They’ve already done so with their matches throughout 2016, but will now step into Hell in a Cell, which had been used by the male Superstars since its inception.
Making history shouldn’t be the only focus, though. It’s the end of a back and forth feud that is receiving its proper ending. Hell in a Cell matches have ended programs plenty of times before, so this one is no different.
In 12 days, Charlotte and Sasha will battle inside this structure to main event the PPV. It will take us into the last stage of this feud and wonder what’s next?
