Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman: WWE Fastlane 2017's First Match Set

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 1:05 p.m. ET

Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman has been confirmed for WWE Fastlane 2017.

At the 2017 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Roman Reigns went for the WWE Universal Championship. However, he came up short after Braun Strowman interfered to put Reigns through a table. Kevin Owens then got a successful pinfall and retained his title. Reigns and Strowman then collided on the post-Royal Rumble Raw.

Well, it seems these two are headed toward a match. After Strowman defeated four enhancement talents on Monday’s episode of Raw, he stormed to the back, looking for Mick Foley and demanded competition. Foley gave in and created a match for him at WWE Fastlane. This will be against Reigns.

This will be the first time Reigns and Strowman have gone one-on-one on PPV. It’s also the first confirmed match for Fastlane, which takes place on Sunday, March 5 in Milwaukee, WI.

We’ll see if this leads to a WrestleMania 33 angle for either one. Reigns already interacted with the Undertaker at the Royal Rumble, potentially setting up more to come between the two. They haven’t met since then, however.

As for Strowman, his WrestleMania direction seems less clear. He didn’t set a feud up with anyone at the Royal Rumble, so he could be in the hunt for a spot in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Maybe that could be a way of the Mountain of a Man getting his wish to face “everyone”. He would be an immediate favorite to win.

The rest of the Fastlane match card should come together over the next three weeks. Next could be the Universal Championship bout, as Owens has yet to have an opponent named.

Will you be looking forward to this match between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns at Fastlane? Who else could join them at Fastlane?
