Report: Orlando submits bid for WrestleMania 2017

BY Barry Werner • January 15, 2016

Wrestling's biggest show could be headed for Orlando, Fl., in 2017, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel.

Florida is -- and has always been -- a hotbed for pro wrestling. In fact, the 2016 Royal Rumble will be contested in Orlando on Jan. 24. What better time to announce next year's host city?

Via the Sentinel:

The Citrus Bowl played host to WrestleMania in 2008. That event drew a Stadium-record crowd of 74,635.

WrestleMania XXIV took place on March 31, 2008. The big matches saw The Undertake defeat Edge for the world heavyweight title, Floyd Mayweather Jr. knocked out The Big Show in a boxer-wrestler bout and Randy Orton upended Triple H and John Cena in a triple threat battle for the WWE championship.
