John Cena is coming back to WWE much sooner than expected
John Cena will be making his return to WWE programming much earlier than expected after shoulder surgery sidelined him for the first part of 2016.
According to a Tweet sent out by Cena on Monday, the former WWE champion is well ahead of schedule after surgery and he expects to return to television this May.
They said the surgery recovery time is 9 months, but I’m ready to go in 5. This #MemorialDay Cena is back on #Raw. #NeverGiveUp

Cena made a brief appearance at WrestleMania 32 alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson but since that time he hasn't returned to WWE programming.
Cena was expected to be out several months with shoulder surgery, which added him to a growing list of wrestlers who have been on the injury list for WWE recently.
Cena suffered the injury back in January and it was supposed to keep him sidelined for approximately nine months. Instead, Cena will return to the WWE in just about five months time.
Former champion Seth Rollins suffered a knee injury that has kept him out of action for several months and just recently Bray Wyatt also suffered a leg injury that put him on the shelf as well.
Cena's return will bode well for the WWE as they move into the summer with a big lineup of cards slated between his return date and Summerslam, which takes place in Brooklyn this August.
