Hulk Hogan awarded $25 million in punitive damages in Gawker case
A Florida jury awarded pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan $115 million in damages Friday - $55 million for economic harm and $60 million for emotional distress - in his case against Gawker, which published part of sex tape featuring Hogan in 2012. The jury reconvened Monday and awarded Hogan another $25 million in punitive damages.
Tampa Bay Times reporter Anna Phillips was in the courtroom for the proceedings and documented the ruling on Twitter. In addition to the $25.1 million in total punitive damages, the judge ordered the Hogan sex tape to be sealed.
