How WWE Can Build Big E After New Day Splits

The New Day is one of the most popular tag teams in recent memory, but they won’t be together forever. Once the trio splits up, Big E can still find success in the WWE if he is utilized correctly.

Big E is not like most other wrestlers. He is incredibly powerful and athletic, but unlike a lot of other wrestlers his size, Big E is actually pretty good on the mic.

He has certainly come a long way since his early days on the main roster as Dolph Ziggler’s bodyguard. Back then, the former Iowa football player was just a silent enforcer. He never got the chance to showcase his skills on the mic. This gimmick made him just another generic big guy.

Thankfully, Big E found his perfect role on the main roster with The New Day. As a member of this trio, Big E has broken out of his shell because he’s been given the freedom to be comedic and charismatic.

This is why The New Day are such a successful team. Kingston, Woods and Big E are free to be as goofy and fun as they want to be. This makes them a lot more comfortable and confident in how they present themselves.

The New Day are really an incredible team when you think about it. They managed to turn a horrible gimmick into an entertaining and memorable one.

The trio incorporated things like unicorn horns, trombones and Booty O’s into their gimmick and they somehow made it work. It takes a lot of skill to be entertaining in the WWE, but The New Day make it seem effortless.

Whenever the time comes for The New Day to split up, the WWE should leave Big E’s character the way it is, for the most part. However, it would not hurt to turn Big E heel at some point.

A darker, more aggressive Big E would be fun to watch. It would be like combining his old, heel powerhouse gimmick with his much more entertaining New Day gimmick.

Aside from microphone skills, part of what makes Big E such a great entertainer is that he can actually wrestle. He isn’t just another muscular guy like Braun Strowman, Ryback or Titus O’Neil, who can only throw punches and do basic slams.

Big E is a solid wrestler and an incredible athlete. Some of the moves he manages to execute in the ring should not be possible for a guy his size.

Another thing that is special about Big E is that he is really over with the fans. After suffering a groin injury at the hands of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, the former powerlifter made his return to action at SummerSlam. He ran down to ringside and helped his tag partners beat up Gallows and Anderson.

Once The New Day’s music hit and Big E ran down the ramp, the fans went wild. It was easily one of the loudest pops of the nights. It was really quite impressive.

This is one of the reasons why WWE should take its time with building up Big E. He has the look of a future WWE Champion, but he isn’t ready just yet. He would be better utilized as a mid-card champion first. Just imagine, how entertaining a feud between the former NXT Champion and Rusev for the U.S. title would be.

Once The New Day comes to an end, the WWE should have Big E build an impressive resume of wins as a singles competitor. Then, when the two-time Tag Team Champion is ready, they should place him in the U.S. title picture.

After a strong run as U.S. champion, the WWE should feel comfortable with placing Big E in the main event picture. After all, he should be an established star at this point. There shouldn’t be any major backlash against having Big E compete for the world title.

Big E’s future in the WWE post-New Day, will really come down to how well he is booked. If the WWE takes the time to build him up, he will eventually be a world champion. He has the potential to be a real star.
