Brian Kendrick vs. TJ Perkins Set for WWE Raw, October 31

Brian Kendrick and TJ Perkins will have a rematch on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw.

Brian Kendrick’s story has been about him being desperate to do something meaningful in his last chance with WWE. He repeated this for weeks as he feuded with TJ Perkins for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. It started with Kendrick winning a No. 1 Contender’s match in September, and going through a series of matches with TJP since.

At Clash of Champions, Perkins beat Kendrick to defend the Cruiserweight Championship. However, in a rematch at Sunday’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, the former WWE Tag Team Champion would win the title off him after feigning an injury.

After a titleholder loses their belt, WWE typically grants them a rematch within the next two to four weeks. Perkins’ opportunity to regain his title will come a bit sooner than that, though, as WWE announced he will battle Kendrick for the Cruiserweight Championship on Monday’s episode of Raw.

This is a quick turnaround for Kendrick and Perkins. If the belt gets retained on Monday night, then the former will likely move onto someone else to defend against. It should be noted that Rich Swann beat Kendrick in a recent nontitle match, so he could be next in line. If so, this could take place at Survivor Series on Sunday, November 20.

Kendrick and Perkins may be tasked with getting the crowd going on Raw. At Hell in a Cell, the Boston, MA fans showed little interest in their match, barely making a sound. This has been the case in other arenas as well. With a new champion, maybe there will be increased interest in the cruiserweight division. The six-man tag match to open Hell in a Cell seemed like a start, but the title match changed that. Will these two wrestling veterans be able to get the Hartford, CT crowd interested then?
