AJ Styles Doesn't Want WWE Buying TNA Wrestling

AJ Styles doesn’t seem to have interest in WWE potentially taking over TNA.

AJ Styles made a name for himself in TNA from 2002-2011, becoming the face of the company and winning multiple world titles. He left in the winter of 2013 and arguably started the trend of longtime stars bolting. Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, Eric Young and Samoa Joe, among others, have all left since.

The thing Styles and those four men have in common is they all went to WWE. It has been a bit of an invasion of the Leader in Sports Entertainment of former TNA stars, who have all made an impact on WWE TV. There had been another potential “invasion” discussed, but that was WWE reportedly being in talks to buy TNA. This rumor hasn’t changed much, if at all, though.

In a recent interview with The Phoenix New Times, The Phenomenal One got asked about WWE potentially buying TNA. He didn’t seem to be on board with it:

“I don’t know. I think that I would love for them to be them and us to be us. Competition’s a good thing and to see some of my friends maybe losing their jobs, that’s never good. So I would love to see them continue to exist and do so.”

Competition is better off in the wrestling world for the fans and wrestlers. It’s what the Monday Night Wars were built off in the late 1990’s.

However, the future of TNA may be more of an unknown than ever. Billy Corgan, who seemed to be the leader to purchase the company, recently sued Dixie Carter, TNA Impact Wrestling, and others. There are debt issues have yet to be resolved and could hinder any transaction. The state of Tennessee may even go after TNA for all the money they owe.

AJ Styles doesn’t want to see TNA go away, but does it stand a chance?
