30 years ago, Hulk Hogan slammed Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III

WrestleMania, which takes place for the 33rd time Sunday in Orlando, has had its share of iconic moments. However, there were arguably none greater than the one that occurred 30 years ago on March 29, 1987, before 93, 173 at the Pontiac Silverdome.

On that Sunday, Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan met in a clash of the wrestling titans.

And Hogan picked up and slammed the 7-foot-4, 500-pound Andre and in many ways the torch was passed.

Sadly, the Silverdome is back in the news in 2017. As it was determined on Tuesday that the venue is set for demolition.
