3 Potential Opponents for Baron Corbin
Baron Corbin has all the makings of a future star and could feud with the following WWE stars.
Baron Corbin had perhaps one of the most surprising debuts in recent memory. The NXT alumnus debuted during the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and went on to win it all. The kind of rub you get from such a big moment right away is huge. He would make his Raw debut one night later.
The Lone Wolf would relentlessly attack Dolph Ziggler during his debut igniting a feud right off the bat. However, something just didn’t click with him the way it was supposed to. This has resulted in Corbin drifting off to a directionless territory as of late. He is presently engaged in a feud with Jack Swagger and even won the match at No Mercy. Someone like Corbin, though, has so much untapped potential that he needs to be part of better storylines.
It can be understood that SmackDown has its own challenges when it comes to showcasing all the talent it has on its roster with a two-hour show. Regardless, it has done a good job at making sure Corbin stays relevant. We have discussed in the past how SmackDown has kept him as a useful presence on the show. Corbin is still in the learning process and is not ready to be main eventing SmackDown or challenge for the WWE title.
With this in mind, here are three feuds for Corbin that can make sure he continues to improve his game and stays relevant.

3. Kane
This is almost a no-brainer.
A feud between Baron Corbin and Kane is a huge missed opportunity for WWE creative. Corbin won the Andre the Giant Battle Royal by last eliminating The Big Red Monster. That was enough reason to have these two engage in at least one hard-hitting bout. A rookie like Corbin can learn a lot from another big man and a veteran like Kane.
However, it is still not too late to pull the trigger on this feud. Both these superstars are on the SmackDown roster and don’t have anything to do at the moment. Kane teamed up with Randy Orton this past week to take on the Wyatt Family. Despite that, he is not part of any storylines at the moment. The same can be said about Corbin as well.
This would be a big learning opportunity for Corbin. Not only is Kane one of the more versatile big men inside the ring, he is also one of the safest. He hasn’t stayed away from the ring due to injuries for that long. The former World Heavyweight Champion has also continued to be one of the most reliable big men in WWE.
This match wouldn’t be a showcase of mat skills but that doesn’t mean it can’t be good. Kane is a great wrestler and he still has a few good matches left in him given the right feud. A Cage Match or a No Disqualification Match between these two would be excellent.

2. Rhyno (with Heath Slater)
Rhyno isn’t called The Man Beast for nothing. He would provide stiff competition to someone like Baron Corbin.
Rhyno is also relatively agile. There is something intriguingly positive about this pairing. Throw in Heath Slater as well and you have a good enough mix for a feud. Corbin can even manage to fend off Slater and hit his finisher on Rhyno on an occasion. That would make The Lone Wolf look like a legitimate tough guy
While it’s true that Slater and Rhyno are a tag team and the prospect of a duo feuding with a single person isn’t as exciting, there is something about this feud that is captivating. Corbin’s in-ring style is all about raw power. Slater can easily fall prey to him in the ring or even backstage and make the former NXT star look good.
The feud is also easy to pull off. WWE just have to let Corbin run wild over Slater and beat him up. Rhyno can then try to avenge his tag team partner. Of course, this would be better if it is done once they lose their tag team titles. This would make sure that their team still sticks together and actually has some direction even without the tag titles. Perhaps Corbin can injure Slater. Then, during a PPV match, just as it seems like the Corbin is about to injure Rhyno as well, Slater can make his surprise return to save his buddy. That is the kind of storyline and moment that gets a wrestler over with the fans.

1. Dean Ambrose
This will be the one feud that will help Baron Corbin break the glass ceiling. As such, this program should not happen anytime soon. Corbin is still too green for this at the moment. Creative has to wisely make use of the other two options and even a few wins here and there to build Corbin as a threat.
We have already seen that these two have good chemistry. Corbin battled Ambrose during the main event of SmackDown on August 30. The match was great and it became evident right away that these two had to feud at some point in future. Corbin won the match via disqualification when AJ Styles interfered.
This feud will be the true test for Corbin before making it into more high-profile feuds and PPV main events. Ambrose has proven in the past he can work with almost anybody. He thrives in extreme matches and hard-hitting contests. His greatest matches aren’t about mat skills. These are all positive factors for Corbin as well and why this feud has to happen in the future.
Other names considered as potential opponents for Corbin included Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and even an intercontinental title shot against Ziggler. However, a feud between him and Ziggler already happened.
Orton seems like a good idea on paper. But there is every chance it turns into a lackluster feud like the one he is having with Wyatt at the moment. Corbin is still not good enough on the mic to ignite a feud with Bray Wyatt. If nothing can be done at the moment, creative should just move towards squash matches for Corbin the same way it did for Braun Strowman. Perhaps creative can have the two behemoths compete against each other in an inter-brand contest.
