LOS ANGELES (AP) Freshman Sadie Edwards has transferred from Connecticut to Southern California, where she will begin classes next Monday.

The 5-foot-10 guard from Meriden, Connecticut, left the second-ranked Huskies because she wanted more playing time. Edwards appeared in six games for the defending national champions, averaging 4.8 minutes.

Edwards says she chose USC because she felt at home during her visit, which is important to her since she will be far from home. She says she likes Trojans coach Cynthia Cooper.

Cooper says Edwards' size and length allow her to play either backcourt position. She will begin practicing with the team immediately.
