SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) Notre Dame freshman point guard Ali Patberg will miss the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.
Patberg was injured during practice Monday and the severity was diagnosed during an MRI on Tuesday. Coach Muffet McGraw had said she expected Patberg to contribute this season for the third-ranked Fighting Irish.
As a senior at Columbus North High School, south of Indianapolis, she averaged nearly 26 points per game in leading her team to a 28-1 record and its first Class 4A state championship. She was a McDonald's All-America, one of three joining the Irish this season, along with guards Arike Ogunbowale and Marina Mabrey.
