Emily Carter scored a school-record 43 points to help No. 23 TCU outlast SMU 87-73 in double overtime on Wednesday night.
After 12 lead changes in regulation, TCU (2-0) finally took control in the second overtime, scoring 11 of the first 13 points and outscoring SMU 19-5 overall. Carter, who broke Amy Sutton Porter's record 39 points from Jan. 21, 1999, scored 10 of her 43 in the second overtime.
Carter also hit all 15 of her free throws and helped the Lady Frogs overcome 22 turnovers. Starr Crawford added 13 for TCU, which extended its home-win streak to 23 games.
Samantha Mahnesmith finished with 19 points for SMU (0-2) and Christine Elliott and Raquel Christian added 12 points each.
