No. 22 Syracuse pulls away from Cornell 76-59

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Alexis Peterson had 18 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals, Briana Day and Cornelia Fondren had double-doubles and No. 22 Syracuse pulled away for a 76-59 win over Cornell on Sunday.

Day had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Fondren 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds for the Orange (9-3), who won their 68th straight nonconference game at home. Diamond Henderson added 14 points and Brianna Butler 13.

Nia Marshall and Kerri Moran had 14 points apiece for the Big Red (6-5), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Cornell took a 31-21 lead in the first half but Syracuse closed strong to trail 34-32 at the break. The Big Red were up 45-44 at 14:23 of the second half, but just 7 of 29 from the field after intermission.

Syracuse dominated inside, out-scoring Cornell 38-16 in the paint, including 20-12 on second chance points.
