No. 18 Rutgers women pull away to beat Purdue 78-49

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) Kahleah Copper scored 24 points and No. 18 Rutgers pulled away on a second-half run to beat Purdue 78-49 on Saturday.

Rutgers (19-6, 10-4 Big Ten) led 33-23 at intermission, but Bridget Perry scored five straight points to rally Purdue back within two, 37-35, with 15:10 remaining. The Scarlet Knights answered with a 22-5 run - including eight points from Copper - to take a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

The Boilermakers (10-15, 3-11) missed six field goals and had five turnovers during the run, finishing with 22 turnovers in the contest.

Copper shot 12 of 17 from the floor and had four steals. Betnijah Laney added 16 points, Tyler Scaife had 14 and Rachel Hollivay chipped in 12 for Rutgers.

Perry finished with 13 points and Whitney Bays added 10 rebounds for Purdue, which has now lost six straight.
