It was senior day at Florida State on Sunday, but it was the underclassmen who took care of business.
Alexa Deluzio scored 22 points and junior Cierra Bravard added 15 as the 14th-ranked Seminoles defeated Clemson 67-50 in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Deluzio scored 16 points in the first half, including a pair of 3-point baskets that spurred a 9-0 run late in the half and sent the Seminoles to the locker room with a 34-26 lead. She was 6 of 10 from the floor, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range.
Chelsea Davis added 12 points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench for the Seminoles (23-6, 11-3), who will play Friday night in the ACC tournament after an opening bye.
''Every time she comes in, she's just so solid in what she can do on both ends of the floor,'' Florida State coach Sue Semrau said of Davis. ''She's my sixth player of the year. She's a special kid.''
Deluzio and Davis, both sophomores, combined to make 10 of 15 shots while their teammates were just 12 for 45.
Courtney Ward had a rough home finale, hitting only two of her nine shots along with five turnovers while the other Seminole senior, Christian Hunnicutt, sat out with a left knee sprain. It was the first time this season that Semrau did not have her starting unit intact.
''With Christian out, I asked Lex (Deluzio) to see where she could step up in her leadership and I think you saw what she was able to do,'' Semrau said. ''Not only did she shoot the ball well, she defended ... she rebounded the ball, she distributed it well.''
Semrau is hopeful that Hunnicutt will be ready for Florida State's tournament opener Friday.
Clemson (10-19, 3-10) jumped out to an 8-2 lead but faltered quickly on its way to a sixth straight defeat. Kirstyn Wright and Sthefany Thomas each scored 11 points for the Tigers.
Clemson shot just 30 percent in the game, with 6-4 center Lindsey Mason going 0 for 10.
''We were getting good looks initially and they weren't falling, partly because we were rushing our shots,'' first-year Clemson coach Itoro Coleman said. ''But it had a lot to do with Florida State's defense because they kept getting a hand on it.''
Florida State opened a 17-point lead early in the second half, but Clemson clawed back to within 50-43 on Wright's 3-point shot with 11:38 left. Natasha Howard's layup ended any hopes of a comeback.
''Every time that we would make our run, they would come back and make a shot,'' Coleman said. ''That was kind of the air out of the balloon for us.''
The day wasn't a total waste for Ward, who nailed a 3-pointer for the 198th time in her career to move into a first-place tie with former Seminoles star Tanae David-Cain.
Bravard's 15 points left her two shy of the 1,000-point career plateau.
The Seminoles, are 35-7 in ACC play the past three seasons, missed out on a share of a third straight league title when 12th-ranked Miami clinched at least part of the title with a 70-59 win Sunday at Georgia Tech.
