Coming off the worst performance of her brief collegiate career, guard Morgan Hook provided the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners with a key spark off the bench.
Hook scored a career-high 26 points and Oklahoma rebounded from its only loss of the season with an 84-57 victory against Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday night.
Hook went 0 for 7 from the field against No. 6 Ohio State on Sunday, but hit the first seven 3-pointers she attempted Wednesday and went 9 for 11 overall from the field.
''There was no way I could come in and perform like that again,'' Hook said.
Oklahoma (8-1) started the game 2 for 15 from the field when Hook checked in. She scored nine of the Sooners next 14 points as Oklahoma went on a 14-3 run.
''At some point, someone has to break the ice,'' Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale said. ''I love bringing her off the bench because of that. If we start that way, I know I've got a great scoring punch coming off the bench.''
Every time Oklahoma needed a lift, Hook made a 3-pointer.
When Stephen F. Austin pulled within a point with eight minutes left in the first half, Hook hit a 3-pointer to start an 8-2 spurt.
With 4:28 left, Hook hit another to end a 7-0 run by the LadyJacks (1-7). Hook hit back-to-back 3-pointers to close the half and the Sooners took a six-point lead.
Hook had 21 of Oklahoma's 42 first-half points.
''Hook came off the bench and obviously was outstanding,'' Stephen F. Austin coach Brandon Schneider said. ''Whether it was man or zone, she got looks.''
Hook is 17 for 22 from behind the 3-point line in her past three home games.
''She likes the Lloyd Noble Center,'' Coale said. ''I don't know what else to say about it.''
Fellow freshman Aaryn Ellenberg scored 17 points to start her career with nine straight games in double figures.
Forward Joanna McFarland got her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Senior point guard Danielle Robinson had 10 points and eight assists. She moved into third place all time in assists at Oklahoma with 606, only one behind Dionnah Jackson for second.
Tammara Marion scored 14 and Decreasha Goodner added another 14 points for the LadyJacks.
Oklahoma scored eight unanswered points after halftime and Stephen F. Austin made only five shots from the field in the second half.
''We began to defend as one,'' Coale said. ''We began to defend as a unit. That's progress.''
