No. 11 Mississippi State women beat Ole Miss 55-47

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) Martha Alwal scored nine points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead No. 11 Mississippi State to a 55-47 victory over Mississippi on Sunday, sweeping its in-state rival while ending the regular season with the best record in school history.

Mississippi State (26-5, 11-5 SEC) bounced back after losing to No. 2 South Carolina on Thursday night to secure the No. 3 seed heading into the conference tournament.

Victoria Vivians scored 17 points to lead the Bulldogs, who finished 17-1 at home, also a school record.

Ole Miss scored the first seven points before Mississippi State tied it a 15 and built a 28-16 halftime lead. The Bulldogs led by double digits most of the way, with the Rebels pulling no closer than eight in the second half.

Tia Faleru led Ole Miss (17-12, 7-9) with 11 points and 10 boards for her 33rd career double-double.
